The following are some commonly asked questions about the catalogue and its features.

Searching the Catalogue

After you enter a keyword to search, search results will appear along with a number of Refine by filters in the left side bar. These filters allow you to narrow down your search results.

Can I see all material just for adults?

Under the Collection filter, select Adult. The search results will automatically update to only display results in the adult collection.

My project is due tomorrow! Can I see what is available now?

Under the Availability filter, select At the library. The search results will automatically update to only display items that are not checked out.

How do I view new and on order items?

We have created custom searches that will display only new arrivals and on order items. Browse our new arrivals and on order items.

Ratings and Reviews

I just read a fantastic book that everyone should read? How do I get the word out?

You can rate and add reviews to any title in the catalogue.

Below the Request it button for each title, there are a number of Additional actions. Select the star image directly below to add a rating.

Below the title, author and availability information for every title, there are five stars displayed. Select Be the first to review to add a review. If there are existing reviews, select [number] reviews, to add a review.

Logging In to My Account

How do I log into my account?

The catalogue can be searched without logging in. At anytime, you can login to your account by selecting Login at the top right hand corner of the catalogue. Log in with your library barcode and pin. Once logged in, select your name at the top right hand corner and view your account details.

If there is an i for alerts button next to your name, click to view your account alerts. These may include holds ready for pick-up and materials due soon. Alerts are clickable to view more details.

Do I have to enter my library barcode each time I log in?

The very first time you log in, you will need to log in with your library barcode and pin. Once logged int, you will be able to create a username with which you can log in. If you ever forget your username, you can login with your library barcode.

How do I create a username?

In your account, select Edit Account. Enter your username in the Alias / Nickname field and submit.

Managing My Library Account

How do I know if a hold is ready for pickup?

In your account, select Holds. By default, your holds are sorted by the Pickup Expiration date. Holds available for pickup will display at the top. You should also receive a notification from the Library by phone or email.

Can I start tracking my reading history again?

In your account, select Reading History. Select Save Reading History to begin recording a list of everything you borrow from the library from that point onward. Even after you've returned items, they will stay on this list for your reference. You can opt-out at any time.

How do I renew checked out items?

  • Log in and view your account
  • Click on Checkouts in the left hand column of your account.
  • Titles that you have presently checked out are listed.
  • To renew an item
    • Check the checkbox next to the titles you want to renew.
    • Click the Renew Marked button.
    • You will be asked to confirm that you wish to proceed with the listed renewals.
    • Select Yes, if you wish to proceed.
      • Items are renewed for an additional borrowing period starting from the date renewed.
      • Items with Holds by other patrons will not renew
      • If you have reached maximum renewal times, you will get a message indicating that the item(s) cannot be renewed.

How do I update my home library pickup location for holds?

In your account, select Edit account. Your current home Library pick location is displayed by default. Select another location and click Submit to save your changes.

Can I cancel some or all my holds?

Log in to your account and check off any holds you no longer want. Select Update List and you will be prompted to confirm your update. Select Yes to proceed. Please note: If you select Cancel All, all your holds will be cancelled. You will be prompted to confirm. Select No if this is not what you wanted to do.

How do I pay fines and fees online?

Fines and fees that total $5.00 or more may be paid online through the following process. Fines and fees totalling less than $5.00 may be paid for in-person at either the Main Library or Beaty Branch.

Note: Browser pop-ups must be enabled to use this feature.

  • Log in and view your account
  • Click on Fines / Fees in the left hand column of your account.
  • A Pay Online button will be present when fines and fees total $5.00 or more.
  • Click on the Pay Online button which will open a new window.
    • Select the Fines and Fees you wish to pay by checking each appropriate box.
    • Enter your complete billing information, including your full name, mailing address (that matches your choice of payment, your email address as well as your preferred payment details (Visa, Visa Debit, or MasterCard are accepted).
    • Click Submit to launch the payment confirmation page.
    • Click Submit one final time to process your payment.
